KNOLL

Knoll has a strong brand identity that has become synonymous with innovative, modern design. For their 2007 Corporate Brochure, I wanted to create a cover that acknowledged the history of it's founders, but that reflected their guiding principle of innovation. Reproducing the iconic image of Hans and Florence Knoll (typically only used in black and white) into a dot pattern in Warm Red was a departure for Knoll, but gave the brochure a fresh visual appeal. For the interior pages, I stayed true to Knoll's image by creating a clean, crisp layout with ample white space and refined text treatments. (scroll down to view other Knoll projects)

KnollExtra, the accessories division of Knoll, wanted to create a sizzle brochure that would inspire consumers to consider how they could personalize their space while improving organization and efficiency. Utilizing visual metaphors to illustrate function, I worked with photographer Jens Mortensen to bring the ideas to life. From there, I juxtaposed bold headlines with delicate text in quirky locations to complete the concept.

KnollLuxe, a luxury textile division of Knoll, partnered with famed fashion designers Proenza Schouler on an upscale line of fabrics and was in need of a promotional brochure for the line. After meeting with Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough and viewing their Fall 2008 Collection, I did test photography in-house at Knoll to determine the best way to showcase their inspiration for the fabric designs — which consisted of magazine clippings of their runway Collection, fabric swatches and sketches. The final photography was then shot at the Armory in moody lighting emphasizing the rich quality of the fabric. The pattern on the brochure cover was adapted from one of the damask patterns in the line and placed on black to speak to the Collection's air of mystery. The brochure captures Proenza Schouler's philosophy of “nonchalant luxury", while staying within the clean, visual tone of the Knoll branding.

For the KnollTextiles 2008 ad campaign, I created a clean, simple look that showcased beautiful photography of the fabric. By focusing on detail close-ups, the quality of the fabric becomes evident and pays off the headline. Photography shot in-house at the Knoll Showroom in Chelsea.
